* The newly formed North Providence Chamber of Commerce elected Roland Desaulniers as president, Robert Maggiacomo, vice president; A. Edward Azevedo, treasurer; and Leo R. Murphy, secretary.
* Gov. Del Sesto proclaimed this week Patriotic Education Week in cooperation with the national Society of the Children of the American Revolution. The objectives of the society are to acquire knowledge of American history, help preserve the places made sacred by the men and women who forwarded American independence, ascertain the deeds and memory of those who served in the American revolution, promote the celebration of patriotic anniversaries, hold the American flag as sacred, to love, uphold and extend the institution of American liberty and patriotism.
* Homecoming Hostess for Homecoming and Family Day at URI is Kathleen M. Nardelli, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dante Nardelli of Beverly Circle.
* The Chepachet Square Dance Club has chosen a name: The Village Promenaders.
