Mayor's Holiday Party set Dec. 5
NORTH PROVIDENCE - North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi has announced that this year's Mayor's Holiday Party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston, at 6:30 p.m.
This year's theme is "Peace on Earth." The annual fund-raiser, which benefits the mayor's charitable fund and attracted 1,000 attendees last year, hopes to raise much needed funds for needy individuals and organizations in the town of North Providence.
In addition to Lombardi and his wife Carol, the event will be co-chaired by John and Gail Palumbo, longtime town residents. John Palumbo is the president and owner of Rhode Island Monthly Communications Inc., which publishes the Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.
"This year, due to the economy, there is a greater need than in years before," said Lombardi. "More people than ever are out of work this year, incomes have been reduced, and the cost of living has increased. It's our civic duty to render any assistance we can to our residents and those who serve them, especially during the holiday season."
A silent auction, along with raffles, will be held throughout the evening. Tickets are $35 per person and may be obtained by calling Melanie at 232-0900, ext. 226.
