James W. Wilson Jr. - Glocester
James W. “Jimmy” Wilson Jr., 70, of Lake Harmony Avenue, Glocester, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at Hospice Inpatient Center.He was the husband of Beverly L. (Martineau) Wilson. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James “Woody” Wilson Sr. and the late Vivian (Dennis) Wilson. He had been a resident of Glocester for 34 years and had previously lived in North Providence. He worked for the Providence Journal for 41 years in the pre-publishing and advertising departments before retiring in 2001. He was an avid golfer and member of the Providence Journal bowling league. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He also leaves a son, James W. Wilson III and his wife Melanie of Johnston; a brother, Donald C. Wilson of Smithfield; a grandson, Laric and a granddaughter, Drew; and his mother-in-law, Lillian Martineau of Johnston.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Route 44, Greenville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation is Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 1 Smith Ave., Greenville, RI 02828.
