East Smithfield library hosts photo contest

SMITHFIELD - East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond St., announces the following programs:

Photo Contest - The library will be hosting a photo contest titled We the People, which is part of the Picturing America initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. The program will involve patrons of all ages, and the library will accept photos from the beginning of November through the end of December. The photos will center around the theme "What America Means to Me." All photos will be displayed in the library, and the winning photos will be selected in January 2010.

Wrestlemania Reading Challenge - Teens can extend their reading beyond Teen Read Week by taking part in the Young Adult Library Services Association's WrestleMania Reading Challenge. Teens are challenged to read 10 items in their free time between now and Jan. 19. This program is sponsored by World Wrestling Entertainment and YALSA. Teens, 12-18 years old, can compete to earn prizes, including a trip to WrestleMania. Stop by the library to pick up a reading log or call for more details.

You Can Count on Mother Goose Workshop - Fridays, Nov. 6 and 13, at 10 a.m.

Game Day - Fridays, Nov. 6 and 13, 2-4:30 p.m. Play a board game at the library.

Feed Me A Story - Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This program is for children 5-10. Registration is required.

Toddler Story Time - Monday, Nov. 9, 10:30-11 a.m. This program is for children 2-3; parent or caregiver must participate. Registration is required.

Blood Drive - Monday, Nov. 9, 3-7 p.m. For further information, call the library.

Story Hour - Tuesday, Nov. 10, 10:15-11 a.m., and Thursday, Nov. 12, 1-1:45 p.m. This program is for children 3-6. Registration is required.

Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.

Homework Express, Thursday, Nov. 12, 2:30-4:30 p.m., for children in grades K-8.

The Book Discussion Group will meet on Thursday, Nov. 12, 6:30-8 p.m.

The Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m.

An Indian cooking class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m.
